Festival Review
Recently, I attended a real weird but interesting film festival in Kashmir during my recent trip in mid June.
Jehlum Long + Short Film Festival and Access Code Film Festival, both organised by the same team in four different auditoriums, including one open arena which was later washed out by rain after showing 2 feature films.
I got the ticket for 30 rupees (0.5 USD). Sweet deal for a film festival! At first it looked like a normal film festival with 20-30 films, but they had screened over 150 films in a stretch of 3 days.
Of course, I didn't attend every movie. Most of the movies were really mediocre and the organisers should improve the quality of the selection of the movies. The arrangement of the festival and other things could have been managed properly, as there were empty water cans at every corner and we had to remind them to get water for us all the time, but the team was really helpful.
Most of the audience were school kids from poor background who were given free passes for the festival. After the film screening everyday, there was a dinner party with musicians from different parts of the world playing there and it was an enjoyable experience at the end of the day.
I will be sharing the pictures too, and sorry for bad quality pictures as I had to take them from my phone.
