The Jesus from Jewish perspective

John 1:17 New King James Version (NKJV) 17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. The Greek Philosophy and Hebrew Philosophy The Greek philosophy is to teach and to reason and see and believe in God. The Hebrew philosophy is to believe in God without seeing and without reasoning and believing in faith. The Law came through Moses. Torah was the written law of God. The major repositories of the Torah are the Written Laws of God. The Torah has been classified into two major sections. The Written Law of God i.e. the Pentateuch and the Oral Law of God found in the books known as the Mishnah in the “Tanakh”. How many laws of God are there? There are 613 Laws of God. The Talmud notes that the Hebrew numerical value (gematria) of the word " Torah " is 611 , and combining Moses's 611 commandments with the first two of the Ten Commandments which were the only ones heard directly from God, adds up to 613 . Letting go

Letting go! There was once a lonely girl who longed desperately for love. One day while she was walking in the woods she found two starving song birds. She took them home and put them in a small glided cage. She nurtured them with love and the birds grew strong. Every morning they greeted her with a marvellous song. The girl felt great love for the birds. She wanted their singing to last forever. One day the girl left the door to the cage open. The larger and stronger of the two birds flew from the cage. The girl watched anxiously as he circled high above her. She was so frightened that he would fly away and she would never see him again that as he flew close, she grasped at him wildly. She caught him in her fist. She clutched him tightly within her hand. Her heart gladened at her sucess in capturing him. Suddenly she felt the bird go limp. She opened her hand stared in horror at the dead bird. Her desperate clutching love had killed him. She noticed the other bird teetering on the edg...

Relationship - Right speech

Relationships - RIGHT SPEECH Last session we learnt about not to overpower your spouse/partner in relationship. There is a Chinese saying which carries the meaning that "A speech will either prosper or ruin a nation." Many relationships break off because of wrong speech. When a couple is too close with each other, we always forget mutual respect and courtesy. We may say anything without considering if it would hurt the other party. A friend and her millionaire husband visited their construction site. A worker who wore a helmet saw her and shouted, "Hi, Emily! Remember me? We used to date in the secondary school." On the way home, her millionaire husband teased her, "Luckily you married me. Otherwise you will be the wife of a construction worker." She answered," You should appreciate that you married me. Other wise, he will be the millionaire and not you." Frequently exchanging these remarks plants the seed for a bad relationship. It's li...
